Why sell park land to the schools instead of leasing it?

Ken Houston (Councilmember, District 7) Why wouldn't we do a one hundred year lease?
a speaker Right.
city staff Yeah, the city does generally have a policy of lease versus sale of properties.
city staff That typically applies when we're talking about disposition of sites for permanent development.
city staff In this case, this is another public agency partner that approached the city with the ask of purchasing the property.
city staff So we did engage in that negotiation.
city staff These are the terms that did come forward.
city staff I think we just felt like with a new school being built on the site and the fact that the property line is not logical as it is today, it doesn't run along between the park and the school.
city staff It runs through the middle of the park.
city staff We thought it was a more rational outcome to simply settle up in this case, get the line where it ought to be and get compensated.
