a member of the public I have gotten a lot of messages from the community about difficulties in reporting non emergency crimes, about how a lot of non emergency crimes must be taken in person by OPD, and due to low staffing and low response time, and slow response times, that usually happens in the middle of the night or sometimes happens a few days later.

a member of the public I think we do need to assess the actual workflow for non emergency crimes just because right now there's a lot of frustration in the community regarding that, and that has led to a lot of people just not reporting.

a member of the public So if maybe we could work with the communications department or dispatch or the non emergency number and figure out a more streamlined way for residents to report non emergency crimes that maybe doesn't require a sworn officer to take down the report for certain types of crimes, that'd be really appreciated.
